Today I am so excited to finally review the Ordinary High Adherence Silicone Primer. This is probably the product I’ve been most excited about so far this year, as far as makeup goes.
If you’ve been reading this blog for a while you know that I’ve struggled to find a primer that works for me. Even the much hyped Becca Ever Matte did nothing for me so I sort of gave up on primers and I’ve been using an anti sebum skincare treatment to keep shine at bay. So, I was very happy to get my hands on this product.
The Ordinary High Adherence Silicone Primer Review
High Adherence Silicone Primer with advanced adaptive silicones
Supports makeup adherence, visible surface texture and hydration.
Use as the last step in skincare regimen either on its own or as a makeup primer.
Here’s what I like about this primer
1. It is really affordable.
2. I like the texture. This doesn’t feel weird and stiff and starchy like other silicone primers I have tried in the past. It sinks into the skin instead of sitting on top of it and adding texture. It doesn’t leave a cast even on deep skin. It leaves the skin looking blurred and it leaves a silky finish.
3. I like that it is not overly mattifying. Infact I’d go ahead and say that it is almost hydrating. The website says that this is a “matte, hydrating, blurring primer for makeup that looks higher in definition and adheres for longer. The formula can also be used alone as a non-greasy hydrator that reduces the looks of pores and of imperfections.”
I have to agree with that. It definitely feels like a non-greasy hydrator.
Room for improvement?
As with all products, I’m sure that there’s room for improvement and it’s not going to work out the same way for everyone, but so far I have no complaints.
I feel like it does exactly what it says it does, and what we all want from a primer; it makes makeup look good and last longer. I specifically tried this with a foundation that separates in hot weather, and I didn’t notice the usual separation in my smile line area.
I have really oily skin and I live in a very hot and humid climate, so I still feel the need to blot towards the end of the day when I’m wearing this with my problematic foundations, but other than that, I’d recommend this primer for people with normal to oily skin types.
Infact I’m impressed because a lot of primers simply cannot hold up this well in this weather, and I’m sure it will hold up flawlessly in cooler weather.
I like to set my primer with a matte powder as it helps with oil control and also helps to fill pores. Powders go beautifully over this primer. If you have oily skin, that’s a good way to get better longevity from your primers and foundation.
I think it could even work for dry skin because it’s not drying.
Overall, I’m impressed with this and I’d recommend trying this out if you’re looking for a good primer, especially if you live in a humid climate like I do, and you’re struggling with finding something that works.
