Hello beautiful people! Today’s post is a review on the NYX Glitter Primer. I’ve been hearing a lot about this primer lately, and I’ve been really into glitter lately, so I decided to pick this up.
Packaging of NYX Glitter Primer
Let’s talk packaging! NYX really came through on the packaging of this primer. Everything from the disposable box to the actual packaging of the tube is just so pretty. They got me with all the holographic goodness. 😍 I have to admit that the packaging is 50% the reason I bought this primer.
My nails were looking hella ratchet in this photo, hence the sticker. 🙈
Consistency & Performance of the NYX Glitter Primer.
This actually feels a lot like my current eyeshadow primer: the Makeup Revolution Focus and Fix eye primer. I don’t know what I was expecting from a glitter primer, but it didn’t feel very different from the eye primers I’m used to. It is a beige shimmery cream that almost turns translucent when rubbed in, and it is a little tacky to the touch. I’m guessing this is what makes glitter stick to it
It does a great job of holding glitter in place, so no complaints there. But because of how similar it feels to my current eye primer, I decided to try it with regular shadows, and it does a great job with them too. I always have a had time doing a cut crease because once I open my hooded eyes, everything just blends together, but this primer holds shadows in place securely so the colour doesn’t easily lift off and transfer. I love it! I’d recommend limiting it’s application to the lid area because it intensifies colour payoff like crazy, and for the transition and browbone area, I usually prefer a softer wash of colour that’s easy to blend out.
From Left to Right we have MakeupGeek Morocco with no primer, Morocco with NYX Glitter Primer, and UberChic Ville Gold Digger loose glitter. Makeup Geek shadows are very pigmented on their own, so it might be hard to see a difference in this photo, but it made the colour ever so slightly deeper and richer. And I also wanted to show how well it holds loose glitter.
NYX Glitter Primer Review – Important Things to Note:
NYX Glitter Primer is great for holding glitter in place. It also works well with regular shadows. It intensifies the colour pay off of regular shadows, and it doesn’t feel too different from the eye primers I’m used to. I would recommend this product.
PS: I think this is a great eye primer for oily skin. If you have oily lids, and shadows usually disappear halfway through the day, you really should try this.
