Nars recently launched a brand new concealer named the Soft Matte Complete Coverage Concealer. I already love the Radiant Creamy concealer, and I’m pretty happy with the coverage that one offers, so I was curious to try the Nars Soft Matte Concealer and see how it compares to the Radiant Creamy concealer.
A full-coverage concealer in an oil-free, ultra-lightweight cream formula that blurs imperfections as it conceals, smoothing the look of skin with a soft-matte, natural-looking finish.
Get high-performance correction with soft-focus blurring. Soft Matte Complete Concealer instantly conceals dark circles, redness, discoloration, hyperpigmentation, blemishes, and acne with a light-diffusing effect that blurs and smooths.
The Soft-Focus Smoothing Complex contains Optimal Diffusion Powder that transforms the look of skin by blurring imperfections with light-diffusing spheres. The formula delivers all-day wear and high coverage that’s non-cakey and won’t settle into fine lines and pores. Enriched with skin caring ingredients, like collagen-boosting peptides and hyaluronic acid, they reduce the appearances of wrinkles and pores by helping skin look plump over time. A cocktail of antioxidants, such as Vitamins A, C, and E deliver daily defense.
Nars Soft Matte Complete Concealer Review
This is a full coverage concealer. It goes on matte but it is somehow still creamy and doesn’t dry out the skin. I really love how it looks and feels on the skin. It doesn’t look dull or flat. It gives a natural matte finish. It doesn’t settle into fine lines or pores. It doesn’t look cakey.
I love the extensive and inclusive shade range.
For a cream concealer in a jar, it is surprisingly creamy. It is easy to pick up with a brush and easy to blend out.
My only real complaint is that I’m not a fan of jar packaging in general. But I’ve been using it with the Kat von D Lock It Edge Concealer brush, and it has worked out just fine.
I also cannot say one way or the other whether it has any effect on wrinkles because I have none. I do appreciate that it contains hyaluronic acid though. Hydration around the eyes is always a good idea.
All in all, I like this concealer, and I think it lives up to its claims.
Nars Radiant Creamy concealer vs Nars Soft Matte Concealer
As you can see from the photo, The Nars Soft Matte Concealer is more matte than the Nars Radiant Creamy concealer. The Nars Radiant creamy concealer offers medium to full buildable coverage while the Nars Soft Matte Concealer offers full coverage.
But to the honest, by the time I layer the Radiant concealer and set it with powder, and I also set the Soft Matte with powder, they both leave me with pretty much the same level of coverage and the same matte finish.
Maybe someone who needs more coverage will be better able to appreciate the fuller coverage of the Soft Matte Concealer, but it didn’t make that much of a difference to me. Between the two, I will most likely repurchase the Radiant Creamy concealer simply because I find the application more convenient.
Neither of these crease on me or settle into the fine lines under my eyes.
Both cost $30, and are available from Sephora. The Soft Matte Concealer contains 0.21 oz of product while the Radiant Creamy concealer contains 0.22oz of product.
Have you tried either or both of these concealers? Which do you prefer?
