Maybelline recently launched (or should I say relaunched) their SUPERSTAY foundation, and everyone has been going gaga about it. I tried it, and I have a bit of a contrary opinion. 🤷🏾♀️
If I understand correctly, this formula is not new, but they changed the packaging and I believe they expanded the shade range.
First off, let’s talk about the packaging. I love that it comes with a pump, but I hate that it is white.
I felt like $12 was an okay price for a drugstore foundation, considering that it is a whole 30ml of product.
MAYBELLINE SUPERSTAY FULL-COVERAGE FOUNDATION REVIEW
This foundation applied nicely and was easy to blend. It didn’t break me out and it didn’t have a weird smell to it.
The coverage was really, really good, and I was glad to find that Warm Coconut was a decent match for me, if a little dark. This was great because I was never able to find a good match in the Matte and Poreless line.
As promised, here are swatches of some new foundations I have been trying, compared to old faves. Top to bottom: @maybelline Super Stay 24H @lacolorscosmetics Truly Matte @narsissist Radiant Longer (in two shades) @esteelauder Double Wear @fentybeauty ProFiltr @hudabeauty Faux Filter @narsissist Radiant Creamy Concealer #maybelline #mnyitlook #lacolorscosmetics #fentybeauty #hudabeauty #nars
Unfortunately this just didn’t wear as well as I’d like. It got real oily real quick and not in the cute radiant way that the Nars Radiant Longwear Foundation did. To be fair, it doesn’t claim to be a matte foundation. I think I can make it work for shorter periods of time, but I wouldn’t wear these on days when I’m going to be out and about for a long time. I think people with drier skin might enjoy it more.
Overall, it’s a nice foundation with great coverage and a decent price point but if you have oily skin, approach with caution.
Have you tried this? Did you like it?
