Maybelline Fit Me Loose Finishing Powder Review : Best Drugstore Powder For Oily Skin?

maybelline fit me loose finishing powder review

Hey guys! I’m so excited about today’s post. (when am I not? 😄) Today I’m reviewing the Maybelline Fit Me Loose Finishing Powder.

Maybelline recently launched a loose powder in their fit me line. There are 8(!!!) shades which is quite a lot for loose powder. Out of these 8, I believe three will work out great for deep skintones.

I got the shade 35 Deep which works as an allover setting powder for my skintone. There’s one shade darker than what I’ve reviewed here.

Heres what the product claims to do:

Fit Me® Loose Finishing Powder is a mineral-based formula designed to help control shine and smooth skin’s texture with a hint of color. This mineral powder provides the perfect finishing touch to your makeup base.

If you’d like to see a demo of this Powder and how it compares to the Laura Mercier powder, I used it in the video above.

I find this powder to be really smooth and finely milled. It is very good at controlling oil and it did a decent job of blurring my pores. I really like the finish it gives to the skin and it set my makeup in place really well. There was no settling or creasing of my foundation.

I like that the shade Deep is neutral; neither warm nor cool. I prefer my powders to be warmer/ more golden but I feel like most people can make a neutral shade work whereas if a shade leans too warm or too cool, it excludes people with opposing undertones, you know?

Anyway, I am completely impressed with this powder. I think it’s amazing, especially for the price. If you have oily skin and you’re looking for a good affordable setting powder, this is worth checking out.

Maybelline Fit Me Loose Finishing Powder Review: Laura Mercier Translucent Medium Deep Setting Powder Dupe?!

Laura Mercier Translucent Medium Deep Setting Powder vs Maybelline Fit Me Loose Finishing Powder

I compared these two powders and I found them to be really similar in terms of performance. They’re swatched heavily in the photo above to show that the Laura Mercier powder is warmer and darker than the Maybelline powder. I blended both in in the swatch below to show that the difference is not so obvious once applied to the face.

In my video review you can see I’m wearing the Laura Mercier powder on one side of my face and the Maybelline on the other and there really is no noticeable difference.
Slight variation in shades aside, these two are pretty much spot on dupes. They are both equally good at controlling oil, they both blur the skin and they both last all day. I couldn’t feel or see any difference between the two, which is impressive because Laura Mercier is my holy grail setting powder.

I have used this to set my under eyes and I haven’t experienced any creasing, but to be fair, I haven’t tried it with my Kat von D concealer which is my fussy-est concealer and the one most prone to creasing.

Overall, I think the Maybelline Fit Me Loose Finishing Powder is a great all over setting powder, especially for oily skin. And if you’re looking for an affordable alternative to the Laura Mercier powder, I highly recommend this one from Maybelline!

    1. Really? Most reviews I’ve seen have been good. That’s why I even got it. I guess it depends on the skin of the reviewer and what they’re using it for. While I think this is okay for lightly setting my concealer, I wouldn’t use this to bake my under eye because I prefer to use warm or yellow powders for that.

Feel free to share your thoughts and comments below! I read every single one and I try my best to reply as much as I can.
