I recently purchased some of the Makeup Revolution strobe highlighters. I’m going to admit that I bought these because they remind me of the Laura Mercier highlighters.
I picked up the shades Gold Addict and Rejuvenate, which seemed to be the brown girl friendly shades the range offers.
Unfortunately, these arrived completely shattered, which is why I’m using a stock photo as my main photo.
I’ve seen another one of my IG followers complain about hers also arriving shattered, so I’m thinking it’s possible that these just don’t travel well. I recommend buying these in a store rather than buying them online.
I contacted customer care and they were very nice and quickly processed my refund. I was impressed with their customer service.
Anyway, on to the swatches!
Makeup Revolution Gold Addict & Rejuvenate Strobe Highlighter Swatch on Dark Skin
Rejuvenate is a deep bronze shade with neutral undertones. This is going to look very flattering on deeper skin. I love it on myself.
Gold Addict is a medium gold with neutral, almost cool undertones. I think this will look great on tan to medium-deep skin, but might be a little ashy on very deep skin. I can see Zendaya rocking this, but maybe not Lupita. I don’t like this specific shade on my skintone, as I prefer neutral to warm shades, but if you’re looking for something cooler, this is definitely that.
Makeup Revolution Strobe Highlighter Review
These highlighters are finely milled, and they provide a subtle sheen, which is what I prefer in highlighters. They contain the faintest trace of shimmer particles, but it’s barely noticeable.
All in all, they’re alright. Not my favourite highlighters, but they’re not horrible either. If I’m able to buy Rejuvenate in person, I will consider it. Gold Addict, I can live without.
These are available from Ulta for $6
