I never heard of Banana powder before Kim Kardashian, but ever since she claimed it was the secret behind her bright under eye, I, and the rest of the beauty industry have been obsessed with it. I have tried some of the more popular banana powders in the past, and today I will be reviewing the latest one: The Makeup Revolution Luxury Banana Powder.
Basically, a banana powder is a yellow -tinted powder that can be used to set under eye concealer. The yellow tint brightens the under eye, and looks quite flattering on medium to deep skin.
Makeup Revolution Luxury Banana Powder Review and Swatches
Makeup Revolution claims that theirs is a mattifying banana powder that sets makeup with a hint of colour, while correcting redness and pink undertones.
This comes in a clunky plastic jar like the Ben Nye Banana Powder. Personally , I would have preferred regular loose powder packaging.
This powder sets concealer well, with a sheer tint of yellow, which brightens the under eye. It gives a matte finish and prevents concealer from creasing and settling into lines.
Makeup Revolution Luxury Banana Powder Review – Flashback?
I didn’t experience any flashback with it and it sits on the skin nicely and looks quite natural in person.
However, I have to say that I also didn’t experience any flashback with the Ben Nye Banana powder. I hardly bake, and when I do, I always use a damp sponge to apply the under eye powder and I always go over my under eye area with a powder that’s the same shade as my actual skintone, just to make sure everything looks nice and even. This helps to prevent or at least minimize flashback.
Ben Nye Banana Powder Dupe? Makeup Revolution Luxury Banana Powder vs Ben Nye Banana Powder
I think this is a great alternative to the Ben Nye Banana powder. I don’t have the Ben Nye anymore so I can’t compare the shades and texture, but the results are definitely similar.
Sacha ButterCup Setting Powder Dupe?
The Sacha ButterCup is quite popular, and if you own it, you know why. It sets concealer, brightens under eye and leaves a nice matte finish. It prevents concealer from creasing and it lasts all day and looks great in real life, as well as in photos (no camera flashback).
The Makeup Revolution Luxury Banana Powder gives the same exact results. It is a little lighter than the Sacha ButterCup but once applied, you can’t even tell the difference. They both look exactly the same on my skintone.
If you’re looking for an affordable banana powder, consider the Makeup Revolution Luxury Banana Powder.
