Makeup Geek Lip Products Review + Swatches + Giveaway (Giveaway Has Closed)

Makeup Geek Lip Products ReviewToday I am reviewing ALL the Makeup Geek Lip Products. There are about 6 product lines, and a total of around 80 different shades. 😱

That’s a lot of lipsticks but we will get through it together 👭. I will be swatching my favorite shades in this post, and I will be reviewing all the different categories.

Makeup Geek Showstopper Creme Stains Review

These are transfer-proof, matte but very comfortable. This formula is one of my favourites. It retails for only $12 and I love it as much as I love my $20 lipsticks.  There are 18 shades so far. I’ve done a full review here.

Makeup Geek Plush Matte Review/ Makeup Geek Plush Creme Review

Makeup geek plush creme plush matte review

The plush cremes and plush mattes are basically the same base formula, but the plush cremes have a creamy, glossy finish, while the plush mattes have a matte finish. Both are non-drying, and they are NOT transfer proof.

The Plush Cremes ($14) feel like a very pigmented lip gloss. But is not tacky and it’s not too shiny.

The Plush Mattes ($12) feel like ColourPop Ultra Satin lips, but with a more matte finish, a better formula and a more weightless feel. I literally cannot feel these on my lips. It feels like I have nothing on.

Makeup Geek Plush Creme Plush Matte Swatch Dark Skin FreeSpirit, OldSoul, JetSetter, Chatterbox, WildChild, Cougar, Misfit

I love all* the shades swatched but here are a few notes.

Free Spirit is the perfect orange shade I’ve been searching for, in a flattering formula that is sheer enough that it doesn’t look too intense, but pigmented enough to show up properly as a true orange shade. This was a pleasant surprise because I’d just about given up on finding an orange lipstick that looks great on me.

Misfit is an unusual gray that leans purple. I didn’t expect to like this shade but I do.

* I included Chatterbox because I feel like it’s  a very spring/summer appropriate shade. It’s not something I’d personally wear but I know some people like bright shades for the warmer weather, so here you go.

There are two shades I love but didn’t swatch: Urbanista (a gorgeous purple-ey neutral that looks fantastic on dark skin) and Rocker Chick (a vampy berry shade)

Free Spirit, Old Soul and Jet Setter are Plush Cremes. Wild Child, Cougar, Chatterbox and Misfit are Plush Mattes.

Makeup Geek Iconic Lipsticks Review

Makeup Geek Iconic Lipstick Review

For those who don’t really like liquid lipsticks and prefer their lipsticks in tube form, you have the Iconic Lipsticks($15). They come with a colour indicator on the end so you can see what lipstick it is without opening it. Its not an exact match to the colour inside, but it’s close enough to serve the intended purpose.

There are two finishes to the Iconic Lipstick.  There’s a matte finish and a creamy finish. The matte ones are matte, more pigmented and last longer. The creamy ones are glossier, not as pigmented and wear off faster. The formula of both are great, better than the MAC mattes/retro mattes/cremesheens by far.

Rare and Vain are matte, Witty and Spoiled are glossy.

Makeup Geek Foiled Lipgloss Review

Makeup Geek Foiled Lip Gloss Review

These were a pleasant surprise. I am not really a lip gloss person,  so I was not expecting to love these, but I do.

I really love the metallic lip trend, but it can be a bit impractical for day-to-day wear.

These foiled lipglosses give the most beautiful, flattering metallic shine, but its subtle enough for everyday wear. The formula is amazing.  It is opaque and somehow self leveling  (I really don’t know how else to desribe it, but the point is that you don’t get the dehydrated lips effect that most metallic liquid lipsticks tend to give)

If you’re  a lipgloss lover or you’re looking to try the metallic lip trend without looking crazy, I highly recommend these.

They’re not transfer-proof. (Because this is a gloss formula). There is no obvious shimmer or glitter in this formula, just a beautiful sheen.

And that concludes this reveiw! 😓

Please note that I only swatched the shades that stood out to me. There are 10- 20 shades in each formula, so check out the Makeup Geek  website through the links, you might see something you like if nothing I swatched caught your interest.

For lip swatches, follow me on Instagram. I’m wearing the Flamenco Showstopper in the photo below.

  1. I love Old Soul and Misfit so much! Misfit is definitely calling my name, I love these grey purple lipsticks. I love love the packaging of the Iconic lipsticks. I’m all the way here for rare, Vain and Spoiled. great read xx

  2. the plush matte range seems to be my favourite. and the shades chatterbox looks so pretty. great post

  3. I like the Foiled Lip Glosses and I’d love to try Mixtape. I’ve really slowed down on lip products this year. Anyway, a friend recently got me a Kylie Lip Kit (can’t remember the shade) so I might just be easing back into my former self.

    1. Mixtape is so gorgeous! I have to do a MOTD with it soon. I’m getting some Bite Beauty lipsticks and pencils and some new KVD shades, but other than that I think I have more than enough lipsticks and I’m done for the year. I still have so much I haven’t used/reviewed.

Feel free to share your thoughts and comments below! I read every single one and I try my best to reply as much as I can.
