Lancome Teint Idole Ultra Cushion Foundation Review : I have been dying to try a cushion foundation, but most of them promise a dewy, radiant finish, two words I actively try to avoid in my foundations, because I have oily skin.
Add in the fact that most cushion foundations out there don’t even bother catering to dark skin, and you can understand why I was happy when Lancome launched a cushion version of their iconic Teint Idole Ultra Foundation.
An oil-free, high-coverage, long-wearing liquid foundation in a portable cushion compact.
This ultra-innovative cushion foundation gives you buildable full coverage and refreshing hydration that lasts. Its unique, patented Polar Cushion Technology™ is custom-designed for long-wear coverage. Unlike a sponge cushion, the ultra-absorbent fiber network was specifically crafted to lock in high coverage textures. Its touch-activated filter dispenses the perfect amount of formula with every application, and the result is liquid foundation, without leaks or spills. The perfectly portable compact comes with a customized puff applicator for a high coverage result, making it an easy-to-use, on-the-go makeup. The oil-free liquid formula glides easily and comfortably onto the skin, while delivering a refreshing cooling effect upon application. The result is a lightweight, hydrating formula with a natural-looking matte finish.
This product is noncomedogenic and is tested under dermatological control for all skin types.
Lancome Teint Idole Ultra Cushion Foundation Review : Pros and Cons
I just want to quickly mention that I apply this with a damp beauty blender and it works great.
Here’s what I love about this foundation:
This foundation contains SPF 50, and usually foundations with high SPF tend to look really ashy on dark skin. I don’t know how Lancome did it but there’s no ashiness to be found here. The shade I got just has beautiful golden undertones. 😍😍😍
It is quick and easy to apply. It is mess-free, and it blends easily.
It gives a gorgeous skin like, natural finish. It doesn’t settle into fine lines or pores.
It offers medium buildable coverage.
It lasts all day.
It doesn’t oxidise on me, thankfully. The liquid Teint Idole Ultra used to oxidise on me for some strange reason.
Here’s what I think is side-eye worthy about it:
First of all, this costs $47 which officially makes it my most expensive foundation, so far, and you really don’t get a ton of product.
There are refills available and a refill costs $39. Usually, I’m fine paying these prices for liquid foundations, where you get 30ml and they last a while, but you get much less product with cushions.
Also, it is heavily perfumed like most other Lancome complexion products I have tried in the past. I’m used to this from Lancome and it doesn’t linger so it doesn’t bother me, but if you don’t like your complexion products to be fragranced, that’s something to watch out for.
I’m wearing The Lancome Teint Idole Ultra Cushion Foundation in the shade 500W in the photo above. It is a little dark for me so I made sure to highlight with a brighter shade of concealer to balance it out.
The rest of the makeup deets will be on my Instagram which will be linked at the end of the post.
Overall, I really love this cushion foundation. The shade range is the best I have seen so far from cushion foundations, the finish is gorgeous, and so is the packaging.
I love that you get high sun protection in a foundation that is not greasy, has a decent amount of coverage and doesn’t look gray on dark skin. That’s so rare, and I’m glad I can skip my usual sun cream when I wear this, one less step for my morning routine.
It is easy to apply, and it lasts all day.
It is one of the few foundations I can just put on and forget about, without having to worry about touch ups, apart from maybe blotting once during the day. It’s actually officially one of my top 3 foundations.
The other two are the Estee Lauder Double Wear and the NYX Total Control Drop Foundation which I will be reviewing next.
If you have oily skin and/or you have a deeper complexion and you’re looking to try a good cushion foundation, this is great if you don’t mind the splurge.
The Lancome Teint Idole Ultra Cushion Foundation is available from Sephora.
