LA GIRL PRO MATTE FOUNDATION SWATCHES

This foundation comes in 14 shades. I have 7 of the darkest shades. I have swatched 5 below, I will do another swatch including the other two and upload them later because they did not arrive in time for this post.

LA GIRL PRO MATTE FOUNDATION SWATCHES

Let’s talk about these shades for a minute. I was able to find a shade match for myself which was great. However, with Cappuccino being the darkest shade, I am afraid that some people might not have a shade in this foundation.  If I remember correctly, the LA Girl Illuminating foundation had 16 shades and ran a little deeper. I believe they had a white shade a super dark shade for mixing, and I wish they had done that here as well. Like I said, I don’t mind mixing cheaper foundations or concealers, but I think that with this shade range, the people on the extremes of the skin tone spectrum will not have any options to even mix.

LA GIRL PRO MATTE FOUNDATION WEAR TEST ON OILY SKIN – BEST DRUGSTORE MATTIFYING FOUNDATION?

I included a video to show how it applies and how it looked after 4 hours and 8 hours. PS, I paired this with my favourite mattiyfing primer, the Hylamide Matte 12 Finisher. Skin prep affects the performance of a foundation, so I thought it was important to point that out.

I found this foundation to have a medium buildable coverage, but it wasn’t a full coverage by any means. It had a beautiful matte, non-tacky finish and I didn’t feel like I needed to set it with powder, but I did end up setting it with powder. It wore well over the day, not breaking down, creasing or transferring. It felt lightweight, did not look heavy or feel cakey. Everything else I put over it applied well and blended out nicely.

By the end of the day, I had an oily nose, but the rest of my makeup was intact. To be fair, no matter what I do or don’t do, my nose is always oily by the end of the day. Next time, I will be sure to powder my nose before wearing this foundation.

The morning after testing this out all day, I did not get any breakouts. However, I do have to point out that this is a silicone based foundation so if that is something you want to avoid, take note.

Overall, I love this foundation. It wore well and was above average at controlling oil. It didn’t require frequent touch ups and still looked good by the end of the day. I would recommend to anyone wanting a medium coverage matte foundation.

This is available from Ulta. if you live in Nigeria you can buy it here.
