Huda Beauty recently launched foundations, and the reviews have been very polarizing. Some people love it, others hate it. Here is how I feel about it.Huda Beauty FauxFilter Foundation Review:
#FauxFilter is a full-coverage velvety foundation, available in 30 delicious shades, that will give you a flawless long-lasting look in just one application. Hiding blemishes, concealing imperfections, and camouflaging dark circles, this amazing formula is packed with ultra-refined pigments that make uneven skin a thing of the past.
This foundation is very olive. That’s the first thing that stood out to me. The shade I got is quite golden, which I love, because I have golden undertones. However, when I compare it to other foundations, the olive undertones are so obvious.
I think this, in addition to the fact that it oxidises on some people makes this foundation tricky.
On the other hand, I felt like this foundation takes to powder really well, and I was able to achieve the exact colour match I wanted by paring it with the Maybelline Fit Me Loose Finishing Powder.
I found it to be reasonably matte and good at oil control, especially when paired with my favourite mattifying primer, the Hylamide Matte 12 Finisher.
I liked the finish and I loved the coverage. I also loved that it lasts pretty much all day without breaking down too much or settling into lines.

Huda Beauty Primer Review (Oily Skin)
The unique Complexion Perfection Pre-Makeup Base visibly blurs the appearance of pores and fine lines, smoothing the skin for a fresher, longer-lasting, flawless makeup look. Harnessing the protecting and moisturizing properties of dimethicone, and rosehip oil’s highly-nourishing, anti-oxidant rich benefits, the pre-makeup base hydrates the skin for an all-day glow. The creamy, penetrating formula can also be used as a lightweight moisturizer to leave skin soft and nourished without feeling oily. (Source: Huda Beauty Website)
I got a sample of the primer in the box the foundation came in, and I have to say, I am not a fan. It is entirely too hydrating for my oily skin, and I felt like it negatively affected the blendability and finish of the foundation. I don’t feel like it gave the foundation a more natural finish like it claimed to.
This foundation is very full coverage. it is not subtle or natural by any means and I wasn’t really expecting a primer to reduce the coverage of a foundation, you know? That’s not how primers work in my experience. I suppose you could mix the primer with the foundation, but that is not how I typically apply my primers.
At best, this is a tacky, hydrating primer that helps makeup adhere better to the skin. I appreciate what they were trying to achieve with this, but I think most people with oily skin will get the same results with The Ordinary High Adherence Silicone Primer, without the tackiness.
Overall, I love the Huda foundation. I think it lives up to its claims, and if you are able to find a good shade match, its an amazing full coverage foundation. I’m glad I bought it. It will probably be my go-to full glam foundation now.
I didn’t like the primer at all and I will definitely not be purchasing. I feel like it might be best for drier skin.
