Estee Lauder Double Wear Light; First Impression

A few months ago I was halfheartedly searching for a new foundation. I say halfheartedly because I already have a couple of solid foundations I really love, and I was just looking, not because I needed anything specific but because ojukokoro. It was during this search that I came across the Estee Lauder Double Wear Light, the less popular sister of the Double Wear.

Product Description: 15-hour wear, light as air: long-wear makeup is now lightweight makeup. It’s makeup that keeps up. Fresh, natural, comfortable. Goes on sheer, leaves skin free to breathe all day. Controls oil. Resists smudging and won’t “melt” off through heat and humidity. For a look that stays vibrant and fresh whether it’s a workday, a workout or a weekend. Smooth it on once and don’t think twice about it.

I picked up a sample a while ago, but I only got around to trying it out earlier this week.

It is supposed to be a light weight version of the Double Wear, for those who prefer less coverage. It does exactly what it says. It has slightly lighter coverage than the Double Wear, and it is just as long-lasting.

Shade Matching
Unlike the Double Wear which  has about 30 shades, the Double Wear Light only has a handful of shades, but there is still something for everyone. It is easy to find your shade in the Double Wear Light if you already know your shade in the Double Wear. Generally,  your shade in the double wear light will be the first number of your shade in the double wear.

I was matched to the shade Intensity 6 in the double wear light, which makes sense because in the double wear, I am in the shade 6W1 Sandalwood, so if  you’re in the shade 5W1 or 5c1 0r 5N1 in the Double Wear, you’d be the shade Intenisty 5 in the Double Wear, and so on and so forth. So there are about 8 shades, Intensities 1 to 6, then 0.5 and 6.5 for those who fall at the extremes of the shade spectrum.

Great  for people who want low to medium coverage.
Relatively lightweight.
Oil-controlling to a decent degree.
Beautiful finish.
Stays put through heat and humidity and still looks good.

I think it may have broken me out.

Bottom line
This is well, a light version of the double wear for people who want slightly less coverage or for people who are new to foundations and want to start light. Even though this is lighter than the Double Wear, the coverage is still really good. It is still a proper foundation, not a tinted moisturizer or a BB cream. The finish is so natural and so beautiful. I like that there are different versions of Double Wear depending on what you need. I think there is also a full coverage one called Double Wear Maximum Cover. I really like this and even though I suspect that it might have broken me out, I am going to try again in a few weeks, maybe tweak my night time routine and see if I can make this work because the finish is really that good.
