So my brushes are finally here! Whoo! 💃💃💃 Okay, let me calm down. I’m sure you guys know all about these brushes by now, so to keep it short, Elf released some beautiful brushes with pale gray bristles, chrome ferrules, and clear acrylic handles, and guys…they are stunning in real life! Everytime I put on makeup with these brushes I’m so happy. 😊
Whoever said money can’t buy happiness clearly hasn’t purchased these. 😂😂😂. Just kidding. Let’s get into the review.
I’ve already blogged about the entire collection numerous times (search for beautifully precise on the blog), so I won’t bore you with the background again.
Here’s what I picked up from the collection.
Elf Beautifully Precise Airbrush Blender Review:
This is my favourite of the bunch. It is an angled buffing brush that reminds me a lot of the Hourglass Vanish Foundation Brush, in terms of the shape. It’s soft and dense enough for foundation application, and it really does give an airbrushed look like the name suggests. The shape also makes it great for contouring. I will primarily be using this for foundation though, because there’s another brush from the collection which I prefer for contouring.
Elf Beautifully Precise Powder Brush Review:
This is so ridiculously fluffy, and I love it. (I must confess I have a weakness for fluffy massive powder brushes. The Morphe R0 is next on my wishlist). But that’s neither here nor there. This brush is soft and great for applying all over loose powder. I have no complaints. It’s also great for diffused bronzing. I’m just always so happy to use it. 😂 Something about the way it looks really cheers me up.
Elf Beautifully Precise Airbrush Stipple Review:
This is great for blending in your highlight properly, and it gives me much needed control when applying contour and blush. Elf claims you can use this to apply foundation but it’s a little too small for that in my opinion, and I don’t enjoy using stippling brushes to apply foundation anyway. I find they always leave a streaky finish. But this is great for powder products, and I love their unusual approach to creating a stippling brush. Instead of using duo fibre strands with equal lengths, they used brushes with homogeneous bristles but uneven lengths, and somehow it just works better than regular stippling brushes.
Elf Beautifully Precise Eyeshadow Brush Review:
I’ve been wanting another paddle style eye brush, for packing on lid colour, and this is good for that. I wish it were a little thinner, but all in all, it’s a great shadow brush for multipurpose eyeshadow application.
Elf Beautifully Precise Pencil Brush Review:
Another fave, perfect for smudging colour along the lashline, defining the outer V, and even applying inner corner highlight. It’s one of the smallest eye brushes I own and it was definitely something I needed in my collection. Also, it’s not easy to find pencil brushes at this price point, so kudos to Elf for that.
Elf Beautifully Precise Brushes Review: General thoughts
These brushes are soft, great quality, pretty and well made.
I wanted to use them for a while before posting this review to test for a few specific things I was concerned about: fallout and staining.
There’s no fallout of bristles so far, and I’ve washed them a few times. Also, the bristles don’t stain, for the most part. I wash them with Sigmagic Brushampoo and they stay pristine.
I only had an issue with the Airbrush blender which is the brush I use for foundation from this collection, which are usually the hardest brushes for me to clean. That one stained a little bit, but the rest were fine.
Even though these are priced higher than usual Elf brushes, I find the quality comparable to Real Techniques brushes, so it’s still good value for money.
I love these brushes, and I think the quality is amazing, so far.
I think they are excellent for the price, and good value for money.
They are soft to the touch, comfortable to use, and easy to clean.
The most unique one in my opinion is the Airbrush Blender and the Airbrush Stipple
I would recommend checking them out.
Price and where to buy:
$5 for the eye brushes
$10 – $12 for the face brushes
