Best Sunscreen for Oily Skin & Dark Skin

Best sunscreen for oily skin, best sunscreen for dark skin

Hey guys welcome to today’s post! Today’s post is very highly requested, and it is about some of the best sunscreen for oily skin and dark skin.  I feel like my previous posts have been very short and straight to the point and I miss just sitting down and writing a really chatty post. To me, blogging feels like talking to friends who love beauty too.

Unfortunately, I’ve been so busy lately that my posts have been very abrupt but I have a little bit of time this weekend so I decided to write a longer post today.

I also plan to have a post up everyday this week. Wish me luck!

Anyway do you guys remember that time I did my post on the best moisturizers for oily skin and then you guys were asking me about good sunscreen options for oily skin that will not leave a cast on dark skin.

I took note of those questions and since then I’ve been on the hunt for sunscreens that are both oily-skin friendly and dark-skin friendly.

If you have oily skin, sunscreens can be a bit of an annoyance because most of them tend to make us look greasy. If your skin is darker, you face the extra problem of sunscreens turning your face gray.

So for those of us with oily, dark skin, the struggle is far too real!

That’s what I will be talking about in today’s post. I want to share my favorite sunscreens for oily skin. These products leave a matte finish. They do not leave a cast on dark skin tones.

CoverFX Clear Cover Invisible Sunscreen broad-spectrum SPF 30 Review

The first and most important product I want to talk about is the Cover FX sunscreen. It comes in a semi transparent bottle and it comes with a pump. It is a clear liquid that spreads easily over the skin leaving a matte finish. I love how it makes my skin feel. It’s probably the dimethicone in it lol. But for the first time in years, I’m genuinely excited to put on sunscreen. It’s become something I look forward to rather than something to get over with.  This almost feels like a primer. I really love wearing it under makeup. In my opinion this is one of the best sunscreen for oily skin under makeup.

If you have oily skin you’re going to enjoy this sunscreen. I have oily, acne-prone skin and I live in a humid climate and this is by far the best sunscreen I have tried so far.

I love it. Love, love, love it!

The CoverFX sunscreen is available for purchase here.

It is free of paraben, fragrance, gluten, mineral oil and talc.

Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Dry Touch Sunscreen Broad Spectrum SPF 45 Review

I wanted to find something a little more affordable for people on a budget, because CoverFX is certainly not cheap.

The Neutrogena Ultra Sheer sunscreen is water resistant. It is comes out of the tube white but it goes on clear and leaves an oil-free finish.

It feels lightweight and comfortable on the skin, and it doesn’t leave a cast. It is available from Ulta and if you live in Nigeria you can buy it here for N6000.

La Roche Posay Anthelios Mist SPF 50

This is an oldie but goodie. I’ve been using it for quite some time, and I love that it comes in a mist packaging which is very convenient.

I already reviewed it here so I won’t go on and on, but if you can get your hands on it, it’s a great subscreen especially for the body.

The whole Anthelios line by La Roche Posay is pretty amazing tbh

Now that I’ve discovered other amazing sunscreens for my face, I will be using this for my body.

Here’s how the sunscreens appear when applied on my face.

So that’s all I have for this post. Whether you are looking for a good sunscreen to wear under makeup or a matte sunscreen that doesn’t leave a white cast, I hope you have found this post helpful.

What are some of your fave sunscreens for oily skin that don’t leave a cast? Tell me in the comments.

  1. I have heard good reviews of the neutrogena sunscreen,n I thought of getting it but I thought any sunscreen less than spf 50 in Nigeria was a waste and I actually saw an exact type of this Neutrogena with spf 100 for 3000 naira on jumia.thinking of getting that one…

    1. Actually, beyond SPF30, the sunscreens with higher factors don’t offer as much of a difference in protection, as you’d think they do. SPF 30 blocks 97% of UVB rays, and SPF 50 only blocks out 98%. The optimum factor should be no lower than 30 and no higher than 50 because beyond that point, you’re really not getting the extra benefits you’d think you are. SPF 45 is perfectly fine for use in a tropical climate like Nigeria

As for the price of the product you saw on Jumia, I recommend you find out what this product costs in USD or GBP from the actual manufacturers, factor in the cost of shipping to NIgeria, and the profit margin of the third party retailer, and see if this N3,000 is a realistic price for an ORIGINAL version of this product.
