Best Products For Oily Skin

Best Products For Oily Skin

Hey guys! It’s (almost) December and you know what that means. End of year faves. This month’s posts and videos are mostly going to be a round up of 2017’s Best Products.

I have so much to pick from, that I thought it would be best to split my favourites into bite-sized categories.

Today, I’m sharing my favourite products for oily skin.

This is going to be a mix of makeup and skincare products, so let’s start with skincare.

The first product I want to talk about is witch hazel.  I have been hearing a lot about this and I finally got around to including it in my regimen. I’m going to do a proper post on Witch Hazel, so I won’t talk too much about it here, but I’ve been using it for only a short amount of time, and I can confirm that it is doing a really good job of keeping my skin oil-free.  My skin is less oily than it usually is. If you have oily skin this is definitely something you should include in your routine. I currently use the Thayers Witch Hazel and it is amazing. It can be used as a toner too so its very easy to include in your routine.  Witch Hazel can also be used to spot treat acne and remove makeup. My next post is going to be all about witch hazel, as it has a lot of benefits, beyond its oil-controlling abilities, so watch out for that post.

The Ordinary Hyaluronic Acid

One of the reasons why the skin produces excessive amounts of oil could be as a result of dehydration.  Hyaluronic Acid is a great hydrator and it is present in most really good moisturizers, but The Ordinary makes a serum that consists solely of Hyaluronic Acid, which is a great option for people who want to use just HA or layer it under their usual moisturizers. Since I added Hyaluronic Acid to my arsenal, my skin has been decidedly less greasy. Granted, I prefer to use products like the Vichy Aqualia Serum, The Ordinary Alpha Arbutin + HA, or The Ordinary NAtural Moisturizng Factors, which all contain Hyaluronic Acid, but also serve other functions in my skincare routine. The Ordinary Hyaluronic Acid is available for purchase here.

The Ordinary Niacinamide + Zinc

This was formulated to reduce sebum activity. Sebum is a fancy name for the oil that the skin produces. In addition to controlling oil production, this product also has the added benefit of brightening the skintone and controlling blemishes. It is not a treatment for persistent acne, but if you have oily skin, inevitably, you do get the random spot here and there. This is a great product to add to your regimen if you face these issues.  Buy here.

Garnier Mattifying Micellar Water

This has been my go to  product for pre-cleansing for the past year or two. I just love how it feels on the skin.

Hylamide Matte 12 Finisher / The Ordinary High Adherence Silicone Primer

Hylamide Matte 12 is my current favourite mattifying primer. of all the primers I have used so far, it is the one that has been most successful in keeping me matte for any decent period of time. I also really like The Ordinary High Adherence Silicone Primer. It is not quite as mattifying as Matte 12, but for the price, it does a great job.

Fenty Beauty Foundation

This is my current favourite foundation. It does a really great job of controlling oil, better than most other foundations I have tried.

Kat von D Blotting Powder.

Last but not least, we have the Kat von D Blotting powder, aka matteness in a compact. Even though this is a “blotting” powder, I actually use it to set my foundation because it leaves a really pretty finish, and it does a better job of controlling my oil than my other face powders do.  Buy here

So that’s all I have for this post. What products do you guys love for oily skin? tell me in the comments.
