Hey guys! In today’s post I’m sharing my favourite high end primers for oily combination skin and large pores.
I have oily combination skin, and I have a few pores around my nose, so naturally I will focus on foundations that address that.
Best Primers For Oily Skin
Hylamide Matte 12 Finisher
I have talked about the Hylamide Matte 12 Finisher ad nauseam, so I won’t go on and on about it. You can read my full review here, but let me just say that this has been by far the best primer I have ever used. It mattifies my skin without drying it out. I love that it can be worn even without makeup because it doesn’t leave a cast. It is available for purchase here.
CoverFX Blurring Primer:
The blurring effect of this primer is unreal. I wouldn’t necessarily say that it is the most mattifying primer ever, but the pore filling and blurring g effect is top notch. If you want a more mattifying primer, try the CoverFX Mattifying Primer with acne treatment. I love that one too. CoverFX actually does really great primers, and both can be purchased here.
Fenty Beauty Pro Filter Primer:
I have already reviewed this here, and I was reluctant to include it in this list because there have been so many conflicting reviews on it. But at the end of the day, we all have different experiences with products. I found this to go an a bit moisturizing, dried matte, and blurred my skin. Foundation went on beautifully over it. I didn’t find it tacky. I really like it. It is available for purchase here.
The Hourglass Mineral Veil Primer and the Becca Velvet Blurring Primer seem really similar to me. They both start out liquid and dry to a powder finish. I love the Mineral Veil Primer, and it right up there with the Hylamide Matte 12 Finisher. It’s just such an amazing formula, and it is something you have to try for yourself to see how amazing it is.
The Becca Velvet Blurring Primer starts off a little bit more moisturizing but still dries to that same powder finish that the Mineral Veil Primer has.
The Ordinary High Adherence Silicone Primer:
This is the only affordable primer I really love. It is a silicone primer like the name implies but it is not as weird and stiff as say the Becca Ever Matte Poreless Priming Perfector or the Makeup Forever Step 1 Mattifying Primer. It’s just such a refreshing take on silicone primers and I really like it. I feel like it smooths out the skin and definitely helps makeup last longer. It’s not as mattifying as some of my other favourites. I’d say it is closest to the CoverFX Blurring Primer compared to everything else I have mentioned on this list.
