I recently shared this photo on Instagram and it reminded me that I’ve been meaning to share my favourite liquid lipsticks here on the blog. The liquid lipstick trend was not one I expected to stand the test of time, but with more and more mainstream brands putting out their own versions, it looks like it is firmly here to stay
In this post, I am sharing my favourite liquid lipsticks.
Btw, if you don’t know what a loquid lipstick is, it is a lipstick that is liquid in the tube, but when applied to the lips, it dries down to a matte/satin/metallic finish. This differs from traditional lipsticks because traditional lipsticks are solid in the tube.
My ultimate liquid lipstick should have a comfortable formula, be non-drying, and last all day.
Here are five of my favourites:
Best Liquid Lipstick?
Kat von D Everlasting Liquid Lipstick ($20)
My absolute, all time, undisputed favourite liquid lipstick is the Kat von D Everlasting Liquid Lipstick. This combines the best of everything. A comfortable, longwearing formula. Beautiful packaging, great applicator. It doesn’t get drying as the day goes on, and it just lasts all day. I’ve lost count of how many shades exist at this point, but whatever colour you’re looking for, from nudes to blue to black, you will find it here.
Lime Crime Velvetines ($20)
Another winner in terms of formula and packaging, these lipsticks are very comfortable, pigmented and long lasting. It is the tiniest bit more drying than KvD, but other than that, it’s a great formula. You can see a fulk review here.
Makeup Geek Show Stopper Creme Stains ($12)
This is another formula I love. The best shades are smooth, pigmented and buildable. This lasts all day and it is not drying. It is transfer-proof. It could use a better packaging, as the applicator means that it takes a bit or time to cover the lips, but the formula is amazing, and you can’t beat the price for the quality. This costs only $12 compared to the $20+ every other lipstick on this list costs, and the quality is just as good as the more expensive ones.
Too Faced Melted Matte ($21)
This doesn’t dry to a transfer-proof finish, but it lasts all day. (If you don’t eat). The formula is amazing. It is incredibly comfortable and lightweight. It doesn’t dry out my lips or get crumbly as the day goes on. And the packaging is to die for.
Huda Beauty Liquid Lipsticks ($20)
The Huda Beauty formula is very lightweight and comfortable. It barely feels like you have anything on the lips. It dries to a transfer-proof finish, but it tends to wear off quicker than most other liquid lipsticks. For that reason, I will stick to nudes when it comes to this particular formula. I wouldn’t buy any bright or bold shades from this brand because when shades like that wear off unevenly it looks very unflattering. You can see a full review here.
I finally have a review up on the blog on the @hudabeauty @shophudabeauty Liquid Lipstick (direct link in my bio) Speaking of liquid lipsticks, here are some of my current favourite nude liquid lipsticks. I think they're all great nudes for WOC Top to bottom: @nyxcosmetics Lip Lingerie in Beauty Mark @hudabeauty liquid lipstick in Spice Girl @katvondbeauty Everlasting Liquid lipstick in Lolita (there are so many versions of this lipstick, I was reluctant to include it.
