Best Foundations For Oily Skin. Hey guys! I am back with a new post! Today I will be sharing my top foundations for oily skin! These Foundations also have a wide shade range that cater to deep skin tones, and they also happen to work well in humid weather.
Best Foundations For Oily Skin
1. Estée Lauder Double Wear!
This is hands down the best foundation I have tried. It offers high, buildable coverage, it does not budge in the heat, and it is lightweight for being a high coverage foundation. It does not oxidize, emphasize my pores or settle into smile lines, and it is the best oil-control foundation I own. The only downside is the lack of a pump. Seriously, who at Estée Lauder thought it was a good idea to make a liquid foundation without a pump? 🤦🏾♀️
2. NYX Total Control Drop Foundation.
If you’re looking for a good drugstore foundation for oily skin, I would recommend the NYX Total Control Drop Foundation over the Maybelline Fit Me Matte and Poreless Foundation.
NYX Total Control Drop Foundation is seriously impressive. It has a beautiful matte finish. It does not accentuate texture. Coverage is customizable from light to full. It is pretty good at controlling oil, and it holds up really well in humid weather.
3. Lancôme Teint Idole Ultra Cushion Foundation
If you have oily skin and other Cushion Foundations haven’t worked out for you, this might be the answer. This oil free, long wearing, high coverage, lightweight formula lasts all day in humid weather.
It has a seriously believable skin like finish, and I would categorize the finish as satin rather than matte. You definitely want to set this with a powder. But other than that, it’s a great everyday foundation for oily skin, and it doesn’t separate in the heat.
4. Anastasia Beverly Hills Stick Foundation
Of all the stick foundations I have tried, the Anastasia Beverly Hills Stick Foundation is the best at controlling oil. The Hourglass Vanish Stick Foundation gets quite a bit of hype, but on me, in the heat, it transfers like crazy, and tends to settle into lines. The Maybelline Stick Foundation does pretty much the same thing the Hourglass Stick Foundation does. The Anastasia Beverly Hills Stick Foundation is really good at controlling oil, and I don’t experience any noticeable transfer when I use it. It also doesn’t settle into lines. So, that’s the one I’d be most likely to recommend to people with oily skin.
5. Black Up Cream To Powder Foundation
Black Up ‘s Mattifying Fluid Foundation is great for oily skin, and they do have a great shade range for deeper skintones, but it tends to seperate in really hot weather. For that reason, I wouldn’t really recommend it for the summer. Their Cream to Powder Foundation on the other hand, in addition to being really excellent at controlling oil, also stays flawless through heat and sweat.
6. Kat von D Lock It Tattoo Foundation
I’m not sure I care for the consistency of this foundation or the way it sits around my mouth area. I know that sounds some type of way but I just can’t get this to not look…off and uneven and cakey … around my mouth area. I am still playing around with it to make it work, but for now I apply it everywhere else and wear a concealer around my mouth instead. I realize that is probably a problem that is specific to me, though.
But that aside, it offers beautiful coverage and it is quite good at controlling oil. It holds up in hot weather and keeps me skin looking matte pretty much all day.
All* foundations mentioned here have decent shade ranges, and offer shades for deeper skintones.
*BlackUp is a brand that caters exclusively to people of colour so if you’re on the lighter end of the spectrum, you may not find a foundation match within this brand
Best Full Coverage Foundations!
Hourglass Vanish Stick Foundation is full coverage: Of all the stick foundations I have tried, it has the best coverage. It is not any good at controlling oil so I would recommend it for dry skin and a cool climate.
Estee Lauder Double Wear is also full coverage, and I would recommend it for normal to oily skin. It is really good at controlling oil but it is not drying either so I feel like normal skin could get away with it.
The Kat von D Lock It Foundation is probably the foundation with the fullest coverage ever, it covers acne scars, hyper pigmentation, everything. It never looks heavy or cakey aside from around my mouth area, so like I said I apply it everywhere else. I would recommend this for combination to oily skin. I feel like it might be a little too drying for normal to dry skin.
Lancome Teint Idole Cushion Foundation: If you’re looking for a high coverage cushion foundation this is your best bet. It offers really great coverage but it is so lightweight. I would recommend this for all skin types, from dry to oily.
NYX Total Control Drop Foundation: This is my favourite foundation from the drugstore at the moment! It offers customizable coverage from light all the way to full. It doesn’t feel heavy or cakey. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a good drugstore full coverage foundation, and I think it is best for normal to oily skin.
Lancome Teint Idole Foundation: The liquid verison of the Teint Idole foundation is also a great full coverage foundation as far as formula, finish, oil-controlling abilities and wear time goes. I would recommend it for all skin types, because while it is good at controlling oil, I don’t find it to be drying.
