Best eyeshadow palettes for dark skin

Hey guys! I’m back with another swatch post. This time, I’m swatching my favourite brown girl friendly eyeshadow palettes.

It probably sounds weird to say this, but there are definitely palettes I look at and I just know they’ll do nothing for my skintone. Anything with too many shades of pale brown do nothing for me because all those shades just tend to look the same on me.

Just a few short years ago, eyeshadows felt both boring and daunting to me. Both I and the beauty industry have come a long way. There are now tons of amazing shadows and I have actually gotten around to learning how to apply them.

Anyway, enough talking. Here are some of my favourite eyeshadows and where to buy them. I picked these because they are pigmented enough to show up on dark skin and versatile enough to create all sorts of different looks with.

Best Eyeshadow Palettes For Dark Skin

1. NYX Fire Palette

This is a recent release from NYX cosmetics. They launched 6 “Element- themed” palettes, and I love Fire. The mattes are absolutely amazing, and so is the one duochrome shade. The metallics are more satin/shimmer than the intense foiled finish I am used to from brands like MakeuUp Geek. Overall, I think it’s a great palette for darker skintones, especially if you can get it on a discount. You can read my full review here. The NYX Fire Palette is available for purchase here.

And here’s a demo of me applying some of the matte shades, for those wondering how it applies.

2. Makeup Revolution Flawless 4 Palette
I was pleasantly surprised when I tried this Makeup Revolution palette! You get 32 shades: the mattes have impressive pigmentation for such a cheap palette, and the metallics are very vibrant. You get an amazing range of colours from nudes to blacks, warm tones and cool tones, neutrals to bright pops of colour.

The Makeup Revolution Flawless 4 Palette is available here.

3. ELF Holy Smokes Palette

Taking a break from warm neutrals, here is the Elf Made for Matte 3 palette: and it’s called the holy smokes palette. This palette is all you need for a sultry smokey eye look.  I love that they also threw in a few shades to balance things out.

The Elf Holy Smokes Palette is available here.

4. Juvia’s Place Nubian 2 Palette

I have talked about this palette so much I’m sure y’all are sick of me going on and on about it. It’s pretty much the perfect everyday palette, and it also contains pops of colour for when you’re feeling fun. I like that it’s not necessarily a warm neutral palette. It contains a bit of everything but it is still very wearable. Did I mention how pigmented and affordable Juvia’s Place Palettes are?

5. Sigma SmokeScreen Palette

I love the Sigma Smoke Screen Palette because it’s like the more sophisticated but still fun elder sister of the Elf Holy Smokes palette. I love that it contains unusual shades like a matte olive green and a teal that I absolutely love putting in my inner corner. Check out the caption of the swatches for more thoughts.

The Sigma Smoke Screen palette is available here.

What are some of your favourite palettes? Tell me in the comments. I’m always looking to try new amazing palettes.
Before you go, check out this video on my YouTube channel, I used the NYX Fire Palette in it too.

      1. Those living in the states can get it cheaper, for as little as $15- $24 at Ulta. Even I didn’t pay full price for it, because I agree that $30 for a NYX palette is a little crazy.

Feel free to share your thoughts and comments below! I read every single one and I try my best to reply as much as I can.
